Oregon Commies Want Voting Age Changed To 16

An effort is under way in Oregon to allow 16-year-olds to vote.  The effort began in the summer of 2017 with the passage of Senate Bill 802, giving 16-year-olds the right to preregister to vote.  Rep. Ann Lininger, a Democrat from Lake Oswego, was a chief sponsor of the bill and reasoned that when teens turn 16, they often get their driver’s license, and with the Motor Voter law, teens could easily register to vote at the same time.  They also noted that this registration effort recognized that if they didn’t lower the pre-registration age, it would be at least eight years before these first time drivers would go back to a DMV location and make use of Motor Voter.

Fast forward to the present.  Democrat state Sen. Shemia Fagan introduced a bill yesterday, February 18, to change the legal voting age in Oregon from 18 to 16 years old.  She cited two issues she thinks are “young people’s” issues:  clean air and safe schools.  A group pushing hard to lower the voting age in Oregon is the Bus Project.  One look at their board of directors will tell you all you need to know about who is behind this.  All are young people.  One of them is committed to “advancing economic, racial, gender, and reproductive justice for all Oregonians,” and she labels herself a Democrat.  Another worked for Democrat Tina Kotek and is currently working for Democrat Jessica Vega Pederson.  Yet another says she loves “working on racial and economic justice, electing progressive candidates to office, climate change, food waste prevention and other fun stuff.”  I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

It’s interesting to note that thirteen other states have introduced bills since 2003 to lower the voting age to 16 including next door neighbor Washington state.  However, as of this date none have passed.

Since some want to give 16-year-olds the right to vote in Oregon, it’s important to understand who 16-year-olds are.  An article from Live Science dealing with teen brains begins like this:  “They are dramatic, irrational and scream for seemingly no reason.  They do stupid things.  And they have a deep need for greater independence and tender loving care.  You could say this about teens or todlers.”  Great!  We’re thinking about giving individuals who are irrational and do stupid things the right to vote and dictate policies the rest of us have to live under.  The fact is, as pointed out by the article, the adolescent brain goes through “huge leaps in development.”  Another interesting fact mentioned in the article is that due to the developing teen brain, they often make decisions based solely on emotions rather than thinking things through rationally.  There is so much more information in this article.  Check it out if you get the chance.  However, suffice it to say, 16-year-olds are not equipped developmentally to be trusted with the right to vote.

This is a blatant attempt to put the final nail in the coffin of Oregon. We are in a full on war in this State, the commies in Salem are throwing every communist idea at us at a rapid rate. Allowing 16- year-olds to vote is a dream of these commies. Of course 16-year-olds will vote just like the Democrats who are pushing this. These overly emotional, irrational young people can be easily influenced by the propagandists in the social studies classrooms of public schools.  I cannot stress more that the majority of Oregon is rural and conservative. We are under a full on attack by these demagogues and Agenda 21! We will keep fighting and keep exposing what is happening to us!

  1. They can’t buy a firearm till they’re 21 because they can’t be trusted, but we’ll place the future of our country on their hands? They can’t even join the military yet. BTW does this mean they will be on our jury’s? Great, they can decide who’s walking the streets and who’s behind bars. Common sense is soon going to be the most deadly secret martial art.
